Photovoltaic systems can be installed in various places. Below are the main types of facilities:

This is the most common type of photovoltaic installation, which normally replaces architectural coatings of buildings, like roofs and facades, or overlaps them. The generated energy can be inserted into the power grid of our cities.

They are installed in areas of difficult access to the grid. In this case, the photovoltaic system is the only source of electricity and the use of batteries is needed to store it. They can generate power for only one home or be in smaller grids for small communities. In hybrid systems – in this case, the photovoltaic generation works in conjunction with other energy sources, such as wind or diesel engines. These systems are more complex because they require a control capable of integrating different forms of power generation. They can be connected to the grid, be isolated, or supported by the grid.

Also grid-connected, produce a large amount of electricity in a single point. The size of the plant may range from a few to tens of megawatts. They are usually located near industries that require higher power consumption.

In consumer goods

Photovoltaic cells may also be applied to several electrical equipment such as watches, calculadora solarcalculators, backpacks, toys, battery chargers, and even parking lots to charge electric cars. Other applications include irrigation systems, signage on highways, poles and public telephones.
